Our Beliefs:

As a company, we believe that the problem with providing “free broadband” to underserved communities is that most of the individuals in these areas lack the means to participate in the digital economy. According to an analysis by VISA U.S.A., nearly 36 million households in the US are underserved in terms of receiving or being able to access traditional financial services. Many of these households lack a bank account and most do not own a credit or debit card. “Bridging the Digital Divide” will only partially solve the problem. Broadband is simply less valuable if one cannot buy books, music or movie tickets, pay bills online and even apply for various jobs and educational classes because he or she lacks the means to pay via the internet.

This also may be a major  factor in the slow consumer uptake of municipal broadband services.  Another factor has been the inability for ISP’s to provide true “broadband” to the underserved for free.

Overview

EzXchange was founded by Dr. Thomas A. Layman and Mauro Calvi to assist City Governments and Internet Service Providers (ISPs), in offering WiFi broadband internet access to low income and underserved communities throughout the United States. EzXchange efficiently and profitably delivers the solution to not only “Bridge the Digital Divide” but to also “Bridge the Payment Divide”.

EzXchange also works with neighborhood merchants and affords them the opportunity to generate additional revenue which further promotes economic development in underserved areas benefiting both municipalities and businesses.
